They can’t be stopped. Not by Susan Boyle. Or re-worked versions of Katy Perry sung by animated chipmunks.

Nope. Neither of these forces could halt four scrappy twentysomethigs from Brooklyn from having the Number One album in America. Indeed, Contra, the second album from prep-rockers Vampire Weekend debuted at Number One this week with over 125,000 albums sold. Which is a lot.

So big ups to Ezra, Rastom and the Chrises: We have had been able to support the band since the relative begining (2007, that’s old school!) so it was really incredible to see them hold their own this week.
